Nounou Mountain (Sleeping Giant)

Nounou Mountain is found between Wailua and Kapaa on the Kauai's East Side. The mountain range is often called Sleeping Giant, a name it got from a famous Hawaiian legend. It is said that a long time ago, villagers tricked a giant into eating a large amount of rocks. This made him so sleepy that he went to take a nap, but hasn't yet woken up. Nounou Mountain is a popular destination among visitors to Hawaii, as many appreciate the area's natural charm and beauty. You can always stop by to take pictures, but if you're slightly more adventurous, there's a hiking trail waiting for you.

The Nounou Trail is a famous local hiking trail that is around 2 miles long and will take you to the top of the Sleeping Giant mountain. The trail is clearly marked and most visitors see it as relatively easy, so you can enjoy it even if you're not the most experienced hiker. As you progress through the trail, you will be amazed at the beauty of the deep jungle surroundings. A picnic area is available along the way. Once you make it to the top of the mountain, you will experience a panoramic view that is hard to find anywhere else.
